After a demo version of the song performed by McKee was leaked, the finished version premiered on January 10, 2011. Musically, "Hold It Against Me" features industrial beats, a dubstep-influenced breakdown and a final chorus with elements of rave. The lyrics portray the singer seducing someone on the dancefloor, while the chorus revolves around pick-up lines.

The overall brightness clashes oh-so-amazingly with her apocalypse-weave, expressing such understated inner struggle. It's so simple yet layered. The obliterating light once again tries to oppress her huge pores and fiery, all-embracing forehead wrinkles, but they don't give up, hungry for the tiniest bit of attention, struggling to have a place in that round, mature, postmaternal face. Again; such beautiful, neoclassicist, dichotomic iconography. Artistic and intense.
