Captain America: The First Avenger official movie poster released

The first trailer for the Captain America is set to hit the airwaves during the Super Bowl on Sunday, but to whet your whistle until then, the first poster has just been released. The image looks nice and dark, and gives the film an appearance of gloom and despair. These are things I like in my comic book movies. Then again, anything dealing with the Nazis and World War II is bound to be at least a little bit of a bummer. And I like the big “Avenge” written across the poster.

Horrified by the newsreel footage of the Nazis in Europe, Steve Rogers is inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, Rogers gets rejected, but later offered the opportunity to take part in a special experiment called Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers is administered the Super-Solider Serum and bombarded by “vita-rays,” awakening from the treatment as Captain America. Armed with his indestructible shield and battle savvy, Captain America embarks on a war against evil.

Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Stanley Tucci, Hayley Atwell, Richard Armitage, Sebastian Stan, Dominic Cooper, Natalie Dormer, Neal McDonough, Toby Jones, and JJ Field, and is set to save the day July 22 of this year.
